When Harry S. and I entered the USAF we were 17 years old. We met at our first assignment in Lake Charles, LA. There I reported to this CMSgt who took me under his wing. Invited me to his house to make me feel more comfortable (I was 17, 6'2", 125 p). He had two daughters (14 and 12) who became my little sisters. On our first vacation as a married couple, Gail & I stopped in and visited them. We have kept knowledge of where they were over the years. Two years ago, we went out for his 87th birthday. His daughter hadn't told him we were coming and he was happily surprised when we showed up.
Retired educator - taught mathematics in high school, went back to graduate school, worked in research labs, and finally went back and taught computer science...

You were lucky to have met this guy as your CMSgt and that he took a shining to you..so nice you stayed in touch..a wonderful surprise for him when you and Gail came visiting.
