This guy was crossing the 'road' I was on, I saw him stopped the car and got out. When I did that he hid. I left him there. When I came back a half-hour later, he was gone. Best Viewed Large

What are the laws concerning turtles in the road back there?
In the desert, if you find a desert tortoise in the road, (if you can), you're supposed to move it to the side of the road it's heading toward. You have to be careful though, because if you startle them, they may evacuate their bladder which is not a good thing for them since they're losing a lot of water that way and may not survive.
@webfoot Paul,, if it was a regular road I do move them to the other side in the direction they were going, this is more of a fire trail in the woods for the hour I was there I did not see another vehicle, so here I just left him alone to continue on.
