I finally found a spot to pull over and take pictures of the cotton fields near our house. The local county extension office had cotton growing beside their building, so I was able to park and walk right up to it (as opposed to stopping in the middle of the road and snapping a quick picture). I even got to touch it. Yep, it feels just like a cotton ball! LOL!
@lucypics We lived in IL, so I'm used to corn and soybeans. But here in NC, we have cotton, tobacco, sorghum, and a few plants I haven't been able to identify yet!
I keep thinking of the scene from ??? where Sally Fields is picking cotton with her children and a farm worker and their hands are bleeding from how hard it is to pick it- oh, Places in the Heart- that's the film. Wasn't crazy about the film but that scene really stuck.
