8 years, 6 teams, 4 states!

I'm hosting this week's My Favorite Photos in a Collage - Sports challenge, so my collages don't count. But, I've enjoyed going through old photos.

This collage is my youngest son's football team. He just turned 13 and has played football for 8 seasons (plus one spring flag season). But, because we have moved around so much he has been on 5 different teams in 4 states. He spent 2 years on the Highland (IL) Bulldogs Tykes team (age 5 and 6) and two years on their Jr. Pee Wee team (age 7 and 8) - two top pictures. Then we moved to Fishers, IN, where he played in the Fishers-Hamilton Southeastern community league for the 9U TCU Hornfrogs and the spring flag league - center left, purple uniforms. Then we moved to Salem, NH, where he played for the 10U Salem Rams - center right black and gold uniforms. Then we moved to Sanford, NC, where he played for the 11U Sanford Sting - bottom left dark blue uniform. However, he got to old and too big to play for that Pop Warner league, so he moved over to the Lee County Panther's 12U team this season - bottom right. He also played a few games with the LC Panther's 14U team, so I guess that's technically a 7th team. That boy sure does love football.

I give him a lot of credit. Most kids would not want to keep changing teams like that. Each new place is another group you have to learn how to fit in. He must have a great attitude and enjoy learning all the different systems and plays. I hope his team does well this year!

@olivetreeann The weird thing is, he always manages to find a team whose center just moved. In IN, they did drafts and had 14 teams and Dave was coaching, so he was the team center. In NH, their center moved over the summer, so they needed one. The Sting in NC didn't have an experienced center and needed one. Neither did this team. I guess that's just not a position that's popular, so most kids don't want to play it. They'd rather be quarter back or running back. But, he's been center for 6 years now and he's really good at it. He never seems to have trouble making friends on the team, even this current team where there are only two white boys on the team.
@paintdipper Thanks!

American football - so different from our rugby football! Our guys don't wear helmets but should probably!

@maggiemae There are a few rugby teams here as well, usually adults though, not kids. Even with the helmets, concussions are a big problem.
