Today's abstract are the storm clouds that rolled in about 4 p.m. They were quite dark. If I still lived in IL where tornadoes were common, I'd be worried.
With the right weather conditions tornadoes can happen anywhere- thankfully they are less than likely to happen on the East Coast. However, a tornado blew through our area about 20 years ago now and did a bit of damage since it was so unexpected. And of course, if a hurricane is off the coast and the storm area is big enough, we can get the brunt of one of them too! Good shot.
@olivetreeann We had one in Germany when we were there in 91 or 92, just a small one that knocked over a few trees. Most of the Germans had never seen a tornado before and it really shook them up. We had it all in St. Louis: tornadoes (4 or 5 each spring), earthquakes, and we got the heavy rains from the hurricanes in the Gulf coming right up the Mississippi. I'm just glad that I didn't have to experience a bad nor'easter dropping 3 feet of snow on New England.
@ceilidh @pinkpaintpot Thanks!
