Well, I had just snapped the picture on the left when all craziness broke loose and I was too busy watching to snap another picture. One of their players grabbed one of our boys (Alex #92) by the face mask and punched him in the stomach, then thew him on the ground and started punching him again. My husband (and the rest of the coaches and players and the coaches and players from the other team) went running out onto the field to stop it. There was a mass of coaches and referees pulling boys apart. That's when we figured out which player was involved. His mom was sitting behind me feeding her two-month-old son, which she quickly passed off to another mom, and headed down onto the field. When it was all over, one boy from both teams was ejected from the game and the Lee County Sheriff's deputy walked out onto the field to see if more assistance was needed. Apparently, the boy was not happy that his team, who were state champs last year, was losing. But as my husband was giving the boys a speech about no fighting on the field, the head coach walked over and fist-pumped Alex for not letting the other kid bully him. And, just minutes before, there was a huge fight in our stands between two little kids and one of the kids' older sisters. Exciting game. We won 6-0.
