I'm guessing by my hair, that this picture is circa 1979-1980. That's me on the right in the maroon dress with the Dorothy Hamill haircut. Today would have been my mom's 74th birthday, but she passed away in 2000 at the age of 56. And my dad has been gone since 1991. I'm trying to figure out why we were so dressed up for this picture. My dad hardly ever wore a suit. It's obviously spring, given our sandals, but my sister looks like she's freezing (and in the half of the pic I cropped out, our coats were laying on a car). I guess it could be Easter, although my parents rarely went to church with me and my sister. And, the photo was taken in front of my aunt's in-law's house, so they were probably in town visiting from Massachusetts, again odd because they usually came in the summertime. Wasn't my grandmother's funeral, because she died in January of 79 during a big snowstorm (my mom also passed in January during a big snowstorm because I remember wading through snow at 7 months pregnant at the cemetery). And while my dad wore this suit when my grandfather remarried, I was only in 3rd grade, not 6th. I guess the mystery will never be solved, because I'm certainly not going to remember!
There are things you think you will recall forever but they get lost in all the information we take daily. I am sorry you lost your parents so young...and they were young too. It is a nice photo to have.
