My son intently reads documents from the Cuban Missile Crisis from Oct. 1962 on display at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston. The crisis took place 40 years before he was born (and 6 years before I was even born). But as a history buff, he studies the past so he doesn't repeat the mistakes in the future.
Paul's haiku for this week:
WEEK 5 HAIKU – Children
the lanes of your life
are paved with pasts' reflection
pass freely, take heed
I didn't originally take this picture for this haiku, but it fit perfectly. A happy accident.
@swilde The library has a big exhibit on it. It was quite interesting. We spent about an hour reading the documents, many of them scribbled notes by JFK. Pretty scary how close we came to the brink of nuclear war.
What a great response to the haiku challenge. The picture is great . I love his reflection and his absorption in what he's reading is great. An image to savour. Fav
@digitalrn Just reading about it was scary.
@pinkpaintpot Thanks!
