Couldn't resist one last lattice picture. My husband work for several hours to remove it tonight. The previous homeowner buried the post about 28 inches into the clay and even used concrete to secure it. It was only holding up a small 6-foot section of lattice for decoration. My rose bush is still there by the fence, but we had to move another small flower to the landscaping on the side of the house, since it was not in the middle of the yard near where we plan to put a fire pit.
