This weekend we went with several other friends to a wedding in Indianapolis. The bride's father was one of my husband's Army buddies. He lost his battle to the invisible wounds caused by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in 2013. Everyday, 22 veterans commit suicide, leaving behind family and friends to mourn their passing.
@pandorasecho Actually, they do a lot to help them, but so many of them like John act like everything is fine even to their buddies (which is why is was so hard on my husband and his friends - they never had any idea he was having any issues until they got the call that he was gone).
That makes the celebration bittersweet in so many ways. I hope the joyous occasion helped to override some of their sorrow. I'm sure if they had known your husband and his fellow soldiers would have done everything in their power to help him through it. Sadly, most suicides have a similar scenario.
