I don't know what it is about these particular mountains between NC and Virginia and on up into WV, but it seems like the weather is always bad when I pass through here. I've only gotten good pictures of Pilot Mountain a few times. Usually, it's fogged over or pouring down the rain. Today, it was fogged over on my way to WV, so the mountains behind it were completely fogged over. And it was pouring down the rain on my way back - Lucky me!
But, this is exactly what they looked like. I only cropped them a little and put them in this collage. Other than that, the shots weren't edited.
Once I was running down I-77 south of Hillsville headed south at dusk and people were passing me like crazy. Then, I started passing those same people, got to the top of the mountain and ran smack dab into a bank of fog. Well, kept my eyes on the white and yellow lines and my car between them and I was first down the mountain.
