Bad day for football yesterday. One our best players dislocated his elbow in the very first play of the game. The quarterback threw 3 interceptions, not counting this one where the defender dropped the ball (turns out he can't see down field without his glasses on and he wasn't wearing his glasses). Lots of bad calls by the referees. One of our 8U coaches got thrown out of the game and we got a 15 yard penalty because of him. Our head coach refused shakes hands with the other team at the end of the game. One of their coaches smarted off to my husband as they were shaking hands. It was muddy,.....and we lost 0-12. Needless to say, next year, our son is not playing with this team.
Makes you wonder if this is the right team to be playing with this year. We had similar problems at times with soccer teams- not so much the coaches, but definitely with parents and players. It makes for a looooonnng season. But you have instilled good values in your son so hopefully he'll be able to play in spite of the poor sportsmanship of his coaches and teammates.
@olivetreeann It's this area. All the teams we have played against have tried to cheat in one way or another. It's really sad. It's really the only team he can play on at the moment. There is a team on the other side of Ft. Bragg that is for homeschoolers and private school kids. It will be a lot of driving, but worth it, if we are still here. I'll be glad to leave the chaos behind.
