Not posting this because I like it, but because it was my first attempt to get a useable photo shooting under the "gazebo" against the sunny background. He was in the dark, so I adjusted the +/- on the camera to help make it better. Any suggestions on what else to do in this situation?
This is nicely exposed. You can use flash; your camera should detect that the scene is backlit and use the flash as "fill", but I would practice a bit first.
Also, if you are shooting in raw you should be able to reduce the highlights to recover some of the detail in the background and make the picture more balanced. The software that Pentax provides (SilkyPix) is garbage; if you haven't already, get a copy of Adobe Lightroom.
If you have any questions about your Pentax feel free to ask. BTW, did you get the weather resistant version of the 18-135 lens?
Thanks for all the advice; it's really helpful. Yes, I got the WR version so I could be out in the rain. I haven't invested in a proper photo editor yet...on the to-do list.
