The monument of the St. Paul's sisters was built to commemorate the arrival via boat of 7 nuns from the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres Congregation. These nuns came to Dumaguete from Vietnam upon the invitation of Father Frederick Booker. Soon after, they took over the management of an all girls boarding school which became the foundation of the St. Paul University Dumaguete established in 1904
