Caragan is named after the aeta chieftain of Mabalacat called “Garagan” who is considered to be one of the first settlers of Mabalacat. He was married to a Mabalaquena named Laureana Tolentino.
The highlight of the festival is the Caragan street dance participated by the public and private schools in the City. Colorful and creative costumes are worn by students that represent the rich culture and heritage of the people of Mabalacat, especially its original inhabitants which are the aetas. -
