Nuestra Señora de los Desamparados

Feast of Nuestra Señora de los Desamparados

The venerable image of Nuestra Señora de los Desamparados enshrined in Sta. Ana Church is a replica which was touched to the original in the Metropolitan Church in Valencia, Spain, brought to the Philippines in 1720.

On January 23, 1721, Archbishop Francisco dela Cuesta, together with the Ecclesiastical and Civil officials of Intramuros, made his way to the church of Sta. Ana and offered his Scepter, a symbol of his governorhsip of the Islands, to Our Lady of the Abandoned. This Crystal Scepter is still authentically preserved.
