Sto. Niño de Tondo

The Sto. Niño de Tondo was brought in the Philippines by a wealthy merchant from Acapulco and it was entrusted to the Archbishop of Manila for safekeeping. The image was turned over in a church built by the Augustinians in Tondo, Manila for public veneration and patronage It has been enshrined in that church since 1572.
The statue of Sto.Nino's body was made out of wood while its face and hands were made out of ivory. It was stolen in 1972, the body was found but then the face and the hands was voluntarily surrendered it's missing parts by someone who purchased it.
