I was at a nursery today and saw this handsome guy looking at me…at first I took photos from 9-10’ then kept getting closer… one of the clerks motioned for me to come around to the other side and there she was sitting on the nest! They didn’t seem frightened at all.
I love it! My parents told me when I was young that where ever you saw one mourning dove, to look for their mate, because they would never be far apart, and it always did seem to be true!
@illinilass I found that when the doves were “babies” the sibling groups of 4 or so would all stay close together, but once they were adults, I could always find them in pairs. But now I live in the city, and I can’t tell the pigeons apart very well, but I wonder if all my years spying on the mourning doves made me more patient with the pigeons here than some people are, because I still think of them as a type of doves instead of as pests!
Oh my, that is so interesting and certainly must be true! 😊

We do see several gathered under our bird feeder and in the branches of a dying tree. Nice you have patience with the city pigeons 😊
I hope people respect it and some person or manager doesn’t disturb them. Such a sweet couple.
I was very lucky I spotted them. Thank you
