Vintage

Taking more shots for double exposures, using vintage 70s wallpaper and my young muse. Does anyone else find themselves feeling like they never catch up on here? Seems like I'm always nearly on top of it - does anyone have tips on how they keep up with everything? I seem to forget some people for a few days then have loads of catching up to do.

Camera Nikon FE
Film Fuji 200 asa, 2 exposures at 400 asa
Developed in Tetenal C41 kit
Dev 3:30 mins Bleach 4 mins

This is so beautiful, love the textural feel from the wallpaper, makes it feel like a tapestry and I LOVE the shadow too... I always feel behind here, especially with the baby so clingy at the moment, can't wait until his teeth break through!

This is magical, can't think if a better word for it!

@spankyjane Thanks Mel ! This is exactly what I mean as now I'm thinking I haven't caught up with you!!! I think the time difference is a killer on here too as it seems harder to keep up friends in NZ etc. I do hope Arlo gets his teeth soon - that is a tiring stage :)

@sheilag Thank you Sheila ! Aphra is getting used to it now and will pose quite happily - thankfully I don't have me as a child !

Awesome shot! Love the vintage details and the shadow...looks great

I do like the turquoise, yellow, and purple combo!

love the expression, the greenish eyes and red lips ... feels like something flickering by on old film reels, but in vibrant color. You can almost hear the sound of it ...

I'm loving the image! It has a retro feel to it.

As far as keeping up I never feel that way. I always feel like I'm struggling with it.

It may well be a pain in the arse, but, if it helps, I would hang this without a doubt, its wonderfully trippy. And yes, 24 hours without interweb and I didn't even know where to start :)

So cool Ingrid! You have a beautiful muse and a gorgeous shot.

This is an amazing work of art. The patterns and colors of the fabrics are divine and there in the midst this lovely young woman, with such expressive eyes. No advice, just commiseration... it is a challenge to get to everyone and do each amazing shot justice. I always feel behind too!

This site hast taken over my life, in the literal sense of it. I must break up with it else I will not be able to even look at jobs let alone do applications, finish curtains etc ah and see the kids. I catch up when I catch up, but one thing I do not do anymore is thanking people on the comments which is really nice but I want to go and look at their photos instead. That will save you some time (unless you feel so English that you can't possibly live with yourself unless you appropriately address everyone :)))))).
This is beautiful by the way and especially that shadow and textures really speak to me!

Wonderful Ingrid - love the patterns and textures of the vintage wallpaper!
I know exactly what you mean - it's like running to standstill trying to keep up with everyones photos! : )
March 11th, 2013
I know what you mean; keeping up is very time consuming! Gorgeous shot though!

Fab. Great effect and production

Very nice and intersting shot, I always try and comment on as many pictures as possible but am finding it does take up quite a lot of my time but as long as the photographs are interesting I don't mind :)
March 11th, 2013
Gorgeous, gorgeous.. the composition, colors, textures all come together for a fabulous shot..

I love what you are doing with these double exposure shots, and this is another wonderful example. I often find myself miles behind as well, so I'm afraid I've no tips!
March 11th, 2013
Love your shot Ingrid. Your double exposures are really working. As for keeping up. I struggle all the time. I don't want to alienate anyone so if they feel that they are being missed out, they should come and give me some grief!
March 11th, 2013
OMG Ingrid. I love that you are struggling right along with me :) It has become painfully obvious to the people I work with and live with, that I am constantly submerged in 365. Almost all of my focus has been directed here. I must devote at least 2 hours of my work day, and 2 hours of my evenings. In fact, what I am doing right now is going through my list of Followers and comment to as many of them as possible. I attempt to do this every morning. by the afternoon, there a new slew of photos to check out. I continue to do this because I enjoy everyone so much. I really love the interaction in addition to seeing the art. I have no solution for you. By the way, love the vintage 70's motif.

Im the worst at commenting and Im always behind. I guess Im more of a stalker. I love so many photos that I never comment on. So sorry I cant help you just know you are not alone.
But if it makes you feel any better I just maybe one of your #1 stalkers I love your work!!!
March 11th, 2013
Lovely image! Adore your experimentations. On keeping up. Hmmmm...when photography is such a candy store of goodies, its really hard. I think you just have to do your best and understand we are all in same boat...
March 11th, 2013
this is gorgeous! i like the contrast between the bright colors and the almost fearful expression in her eyes.

I hope you don't let the cycle get the best of you. If you're feeling really wild, even give yourself a day or two off from commenting. If it starts to feel like pressure, I think it's a good time to step back. Just do what you can when it suits you- no one's counting comments... at least not the people who count. Whoa. Did you catch that language play? mind blowing.
:)
March 11th, 2013
Just do what you can when you can or it will become more of a chore than pleasure !! Beautiful girl ! Colours ! Textures ! Shadows! Perfect !!:)
March 11th, 2013
Wonderful. I feel like that all the time, even trying to reduce the number of people I follow from time to time, but then I see some new great photos from someone I just have to follow...
March 11th, 2013
fantastic processing
March 12th, 2013
This is beautiful, the colours and the portrait. I'm always behind too, some nights after work I'm just too darn tired, and I always seem to be behind with comments, one day I will be retired and then maybe. I intend to upgrade to another album on my birthday to log my year to retirement, then I'll have even more catching up to do! Don't worry, your work is superb always, and you keep up just about the same amount as the rest of us. Fav by the way.
March 12th, 2013
@aprilmilani Those are exactly my thoughts!

Though I think I have made some progress considering I am about the only one in the world who is not on facebook and who has been ignoring the whole social media scene until 365.
March 13th, 2013
Crazy good, love the 70s vibe
March 13th, 2013
Still love this one.

As for commenting, quite a few of us are in the same boat it seems. It's got completely out of hand for me now, so now I'm the guy who pops up a week late, delivers a flurry of comments then disappears again ...frankly I feel so guilty about it that I'm inclined to call a halt once my year's up.

@kirpppu No, you're not the only one!
March 13th, 2013
Maybe you are pressuring yourself by making such unique shots. If you develop a 36 film, I would post no less than 5 off one film, sometimes a whole week or even 10 shots. So a roll of film a week should be more than enough, even if you shoot it at the weekend. Don't try to keep up with the digital scum, they can take 400 shots in a minute. As for commenting and sharing love, shit, that takes hours everyday. If you get past 365 your a genius, only about 2% do it. Two years and your a super genius.....ahem.....I'm in that category.... ;)
but I didn't do it following 122....you can't expect to keep up with more than 30-40 people in my opinion. Prepare for a cull maybe in the future.
March 15th, 2013
Supergenius you are, thanks for the advice - I do push myself, I get a bit obsessed and today I posted a shot from 4 or 5 weeks ago. Only 2% make it - seriously? A lot of the replies on here have helped so I'm not on as much, thanks Dave ;) The one great thing is our moduke at college is photography so no problem trying to keep up with that part of my life! @chewyteeth
March 15th, 2013
yah search the threads, there was a story in the US news media about the site, I'm sure 2% finish their first year, and 1.5% stay on longer, I reckon 1% or more finish their second because if you finish one and carry on there's a good chance you know what you're doing. You've got a system. One night a week I went down my 40 friends and commented on their last week. took me about two hours a week. Obviously now I'm gone so I check back for ten minutes a day say. Did I tell you I just bought an Olympus Pen FT, OMG is beautiful.
March 15th, 2013
@chewyteeth Funny I've just bid on a camera :) Just looked this up - that is lovely, half frame? The only limitation with film is having an idea to do one thing which then essentially limits, as with this as I was shooting at twice the film speed so can never have enough cameras. Funny as I started this project using my iphone and I swear that took more time, thinking I'd need to buy a digital camera. It's made me realise how much I love film- and just found the local pound shop sells cheap film. Our "pound" shop sells everything at £1.20 - love it

March 16th, 2013
Brilliantly creative Ingrid. Really gets me thinking about how to use the sme process. Colour too! The tones remind me of a 70s film style. Fav. I struggle to keep up too, it's basically impossible!
March 16th, 2013
@chewyteeth Yes Dave -is it rubbish? never used it before but at that price I can afford to experiment - solarising the film.. heating it up etc . Fancy buning/melting some too then scanning it
March 16th, 2013
@seanoneill Thanks Sean, I'm glad I said all this as I now realise everyone struggles to keep up!
March 16th, 2013
@ingrid2101
They say cola dip pre developing too. And lilith on here exposed colour film to red light pre developing and it was funky.
March 16th, 2013
did you just buy a camera from me?? When you said bid on a camera I thought you meant just a random one. ha ha. I just sold my Zorki 4 for £20, cost me £33 doh. but I did alright with my Nettar, bought for £2.50 sold it for £27.75. whoop.
March 16th, 2013
You win then! I did, thought I'd have a play- also bought a HUGE roll of very expired ortho film 6-25 asa, must get a bulk loader and reusable canisters - can send you a roll when I get it here :) really high contrasty results, the seller posted results- stand developed, looks really nice :)
