Photo I took of my screenprint that I did last Thursday, still pinned to the table. I have all my work spread out on the table and have taken the day off work tomorrow to get it all finished. I have loads to do and am trying to find as many other ways of putting the work off as possible. Any tips ? I really should just get on with it but will start with a vengeance at 9am loaded with caffeine.
The guy is a paper stencil that I enlarged from a student rally photo I took in 1986. The vague house shape is a photocopy of my "Niddrie House " that is in my other album here. All the background has is man made fabric that has been hot pressed with dyes then the guy screen printed on top. I love doing screenprints and the oppurtunity to do it was one of the reasons I took this course.
@chezza Yes! Well spotted Cheryl - the dyes can be put on different textures - feathers even then transferred using a hot press - another toy I want! Thank you for the fav, I gave up thanking people as much as I'd love to it just became overwhelming and I'd rather spend the time looking and commenting on work :)
That is fantastic Ingrid - I love the way the red streak cuts across it and the hint of the house in the background. Good luck tomorrow - nothing like a deadline to get the adrenalin going (only way I can get nothing done!)
Fave. Love. I just want to stop what I am doing right now and head off to art school looking at this. I used to screen print a lot in the 80's. So much fun to do.
@carolinedreams thanks Caroline - one thing I've been wanting to do forever - my husband gave me a starter kit for Christmas - then I started this project and never seemed to have time. Were you at art school ?
Oh and perhaps getting off the internet will help you be more productive! I find when I get restless with my study I pop into 365 or facebook or websites, or youtube etc and time seems to pass so quickly. When I really have a fierce deadline I can't do that. Now I need to go & take my own advice!
@rachelwithey Thank you Rachel, it's a portfolio course in art. It's actually a 3 day a week course however you can do it p/t so I chose printmaking and mixed media. Most of the class have just left school and are all heading to art college on the mainland of Scotland but there is one other mature student. Fantastic college - it's part of the University of the Highlands and Islands and gives people a chance to do a degree here without leaving. My stepson is in his 3 rd year of the art degree and loves it.
@rachelwithey Don't think so rachel, I use my day off for working Saturday and I've found it difficult working full-time and children. maybe in a few years - I can use that day to do more photography instead, so many things I'm wanting to do and will appreciate the time to get on with it
Fabulous work, Ingrid. You are such a gifted artist. It's fascinating to read your process so thanks for sharing. Good luck with the final project. I'm sure you will finish your course with flying colors.
Fab job!! I love it! I wish I could see in person how you have done it. I'm the same with you with thank you's... I try to because I feel rude and I used to for EVERY person, but it is very time consuming, particularly as this jumps to the bottom every time you hit reply. If it stayed where you then you could just scroll down and click etc. I feel rude not thanking each person but my time on here is a lot more limited than it used to be.
Looks really great Ingrid :) I hope all goes well with your assessments - don't think you'll have any problems - all looks incredible :) Uh oh now my list has not only lumen prints but now some screen printing to do - haha :)
I made a little book recently for my niece's first birthday, but apart from that only photos. Teaching art kinda rinsed me of art passion, I still write, but not for publication just for fun.
