head in the clouds

Stuck a roll of Kodak bw400cn in the rollei and tried to do some candids. It has 4 focus settings so some of them are out of focus, and some are very "angular". This was probably the only one I was happyish with although it needed contrast added post scanning as his head totally disappeared into the sky! I've burnt the rest of the negs - after pouring cellulose thinners on them. They're too bent to scan but may try printing them out in the enlarger.

This looks like somethihg from a documentary. Very 1930s Euro.

Nice shot, I really like the contrast. I agree out the 1930s documentary

It looks like he is busy doing something focused. I like the angle here.

Yep very 1930s, I really like the angle, great in b&w! Had to smile at" his head in the sky" quote :-)

The feeling of age is wonderful! The texture and grainy feel is perfect.

Is that Alfred Hitchcock?...awesome pic Ingrid. You nailed the technique on this one. Very enjoyable photo.

And evocative shot fav!

I agree with the above. It does seem like an image out of a pre-WWII documentary or is it Alfred Hitchcock?? I see both! Great sense of age here.

Definitely Hitch

Has a Winston Churchill look to me :p Fav!
August 18th, 2013
See I'm not the first thinking it was hitchcock, a fav, well done!
August 18th, 2013
Yes, I also immediately thought you had captured the elusive Mr Hitchcock! A wonderful candid shot.

This feels so old.
August 18th, 2013
Wow this is fab. I first thought it was Churchill. Hope you manage to salvage the burnt negatives.
August 18th, 2013
I thought Hitchcock as well! @gailmmeek is right though, there's something Churchill-like about him as well.

I've said it before, and will probably say it again, I have no understanding of what you do and talk about most of the time, but I do like that you are doing it and sharing the results with us. Maybe you could write an essay/blog post here and talk about it? I think it would be really interesting. On the other hand it might just be lots more words I don't understand :D

Beautiful shot Ingrid, look like it was taken in the 50's.

@Cheesebiscuit Essays?? You have got to be kidding, the reason you probably don't understand is simple - I leave out half the info and get distracted and start talking about something else. It was the one part of my college work I had the bare minimum for - only 500 words and believe me I was counting. Ha ha ....I can talk for hours about it, but it takes ages to type so I get frustrated :D
August 18th, 2013
@ingrid2101 lol! It was just an idea! I thought other people here might find it interesting, that was all.
August 18th, 2013
@Cheesebiscuit oh no , you see- I didn't want to come across as annoyed but sometimes text does that!! I was laughing when I read it. It's why I always prefer to speak to people rather than text, don't think of me as being rude please :D

Superb. I love the fact that you are happy to try with any old film in any camera and then develop it to see what comes out. You are a true artist.
