I went to Pier Head in Liverpool today to take a photo of the Beatles statue. I heard the news this morning that Sir George Martin had died so a Beatles photo seemed like a good choice for today.
It was a really grey day but a few minutes after I arrived here the sky started to clear and suddenly the buildings were bathed in golden light. Then the sun set and the light was gone again. So that was the photo of today!
The buildings are known as the Three Graces, left to right - Liver Building, Cunard Building and Port of Liverpool Building.
Sir George Martin was the man who made the Beatles the most famous pop group in the world. Everyone in Liverpool has a great deal of respect and affection for him, he was a legend.
Fabulous shot and a great title. A truly great tribute to George Martin. Maybe they will erect a statue of him close to the Beatles statues in Liverpool.
I knew Liverpudlians were proud of these buildings, but your portrayal, the angle and the light, really brings home the beauty of this scene. My eye went straight to the Liver birds. Great title too!
Lovely light on the building against the blue clouds.
