Ends and beginnings

Time to catch up with 365. Please don't feel the need to comment, I just have to fill in a few gaps from the past month or so, then I can begin again.

Sadly my dad passed away on 7 March after a few weeks in hospital. I was so glad to have been with him much of the time, he never lost his spirit or his spark. One of the highlights of the last week with him was having a champagne party with all the family around his hospital bed. We didn't tell the nurses until we'd finished - I'm surprised they didn't hear the laughter coming from his room though :-)

He loved photography and never went anywhere without his camera. Even as he became less mobile, he would stuff his compact camera into his pocket whenever he went out. He was interested in so many things, it wasn't hard for him to find something to photograph.

He always encouraged me to do the same, although some days I've not felt inspired I'm still taking my camera with me, just in case. You never know :-)

We went to one of his favourite places today, in the spring sunshine it felt like a new beginning and the inspiration to be there and enjoy taking photos most definitely came from him.
Oh Christine I am so sorry to hear your Dad has passed away. My daughter died 4 years ago, just after my other daughter and I started 365. I decided to carry on taking photos and it was the best decision I ever made. Photography is great therapy and it makes you go out each day and find beautiful things in the world. I am sure your Dad will be with you when you go out with your camera. Take care.
Beautiful shot by the way.

all sympathy to you and your family, christine. my father died a few weeks ago, and was also a keen photographer, so i found it very moving reading your lovely tribute to him. i guess we can keep their passion and enthusiasm alive in our continuing to go out there and find the beauty to photograph. and this shot is a lovely injection of spring sunshine that i very much appreciate

Condolences to you and your family. I lost my dad 29 years ago. My mum thinks I get my love of photography from him, as he too always had a camera slung round his neck. This is a lovely, happy photo, one for dad I think
