New lease of life

Took this in the garden this morning, the flowers seem to be flourishing again. This has been my favourite flower of the summer, a penstemon I think.

We've been to 2 birthday parties tonight, the first my friend's son who is 11 today and the second my step granddaughter who is 23.

While we were at the first party we heard the lovely news that my friend's niece had given birth to a baby girl.

Someone said it's the most popular time of year for babies to be born, something to do with Christmas and New Year celebrations maybe?
