This is another shot of the tulip staircase, I've wanted to photograph it for ages so made sure we went while we were in London. I edited this for the current b&w stairs challenge but I couldn't lose the beautiful blue spiral, so here it is in colour.
This is probably the most elegant staircase I've ever seen, built in the 17th century, it was the first geometric self-supporting spiral staircase in Britain. The shade of blue paint that coated the wrought-iron structure was made of crushed glass and has recently been restored to its original colour, it's really stunning.
