I went to the botanic gardens today, they re-opened after lockdown in late summer but during the first few weeks they were completely booked for visits and too busy to go.
I didn't want to miss going all together this year, so I thought I'd go before we get more restrictions next week.
The autumnal colours were lovely to see but sad to have missed all the good bits of the spring and summer. Then this butterfly appeared, just the one, sunning itself on the heather.
Butterflies have been a bit special to me since one made an unexpected appearance and landed on the floor next to me at my dad's funeral on a cool March day a few years ago. Ever since then I think of him when a butterfly appears where you wouldn't expect to see one. Anyway, it made my day :)
