The Birthday Donut. When we only had a few birthdays to celebrate each year, I would make a stack of pancakes with a candle on top for the birthday person's breakfast. As the number of pancakes needed to feed our family increased, it became much more of a production, along with presents, etc., than I liked to have with the rush of our typical morning. So, one day I asked my husband to buy some donuts, hence, the birth of the Birthday Donut tradition. The donuts are homemade now and we have the Birthday Donut routine down to an exact science.
