Today is Phoebe's 2nd birthday. Before the sun was up, and while the house was starting to buzz with activity, I snuck back into bed and sang Happy Birthday to my littlest princess 3 times to try waking her up. She moved her pinky but her eyes stayed closed. Then I said, "Do you want a donut?" Her eyes popped open and she nodded. I laughed because Phoebe does not say "Yes". She replies "No" to everything. You can tell when she really means no because it is a very stubborn and to the point. When she means yes, she almost sings it. It is then that we say, "Say yes." And she will spout out a very healthy "YETHHHH!" She has done this for the last 5 or 6 months. I have been waiting for the day when she will surprise me and actually say yes, on her own, to something she wants. A sleepy nod, before dawn, to a birthday donut is good enough today.
