Not so long ago, but long enough to say, "once", I overheard my kids saying "quick! It's 7:11! Kiss the wall!!" and they all ran to lay their kisses on the closest wall. I am sure the look of concern on my face was not accurate enough. Why were my children suddenly making out with walls and why had I never been included in the fun?? I asked what was up and was informed, "If you make a wish and kiss the wall, your wish will come true."
Sweet.
The next day, I just happened to look at the clock and, low and behold, it said 7:11. Being the hip mom that I am, I shouted, "Hey! it's 7:11, kiss the wall!!"
They all looked at each other, no doubt with surprise at their newfound cool mom, shrugged their shoulders, and slowly walked over to kiss the wall. "Ha", I thought, "I am so freaking awesome!"
This went on for a few days until, during one of our 7:11 wall rushes, my oldest daughter, who had been absent for them all until then, announced, "Mom....it's ELEVEN ELEVEN."
Psh. Whatever. I'm the mom and I get to make the rules. They can have their 11:11. My 10 wishes were already granted....
