We sold our GMC Suburban, Bonnie, because she was eating entirely too much for Taylor to continue to drive back and forth to school or for her dad to commute to work with. The sale worked as such - Bonnie was escorted to a meeting place near college boy's campus. There, she was given to her new owner and Garrett's car was borrowed for the ride back home. Garrett was working at the time. His dad told me that he had mentioned to Garrett that he planned on stopping in to say, "Hi." Garrett's response to his father was, "Oh......uh.....you dont have to do that." Ha! His dad was clueless but Mama can sense an attempt at parental avoidance, due to fear of embarrassment, a mile (or 37) away. I talked with Garrett a few moments later and he made the comment, ".....Soooooo....dad said he was going to stop by my work....so, uh, yeah." I smiled and replied, "Oh yes, and he is keeping Diego and Finn out of school and bringing them, too, so it can be a "Guy's Day". LOL! My boy is a sweet guy and would never voice disappointment over such an exciting venture for others. But the tone of his voice when he said, "Oh........" Priceless.
I informed the boys AND their dad that Garrett would be VERY busy at work and they were NOT to sit down and have a meal but they could stop in for something quick like a cookie. All 3 of their faces fell. 2, I am sure, disappointed that they would not get to hang out with their cool big brother and learn how grill things. The other, I am even more sure, because he heard the words "NOT to sit down and have a meal."
As soon as Bonnie had made her way into the lives of her new family, the 3 boys made their way to brother and son. I received this picture, via text, soon after. It was taken without Garrett's knowledge. And, while it would be wrong to submit him to further parental embarrassment by posting it for the world to see, I know he will love me even more because of it. How can I say no to that? ;-)
