When Dylann was 4 years old she needed an ultrasound on her kidneys. She was very nervous and I assured her that it would be painless, there would be no needles, that they would just be looking at her tummy with a camera like she had seen done with me when I was pregnant, and that she could bring her favorite stuffed monkey. During the ultrasound, it was discovered that one of her kidneys was oddly shaped and I was informed that she was being sent over to the hospital for a CAT scan....where they needed to inject dye into a vein in her arm. They had a horrible time getting the needle in and it took quite a while. I will never forget her laying on the table crying. When they were finally successful, I had to leave the room because I was pregnant with Diego. The nurse was wonderful but I felt like I had betrayed Dylann and my heart broke into a million pieces, a million times, as I watched my little girl through the window as she clutched her beloved "Orange". Everything turned out to be fine with her kidney and "Orange" is still keeping her company. Here he is, perched on the turban/bably sling I wrapped on her head tonight....because she asked me to.
