I decided to leave this photo as it was, despite the blur, the distracted eyes, and those that were closed ....and with very good reason. This is a real moment captured in time and, to me, what was captured is perfect.

I was sitting on the porch with Phoebe and Fat Head Sofi when Ryanne came out to see what we were doing. I decided to ask her to take a picture of us on the swing as we listened to the crickets and felt the cool breeze. The first picture she took was blurry. "Oops!", she said, "I forgot to hold it still." She took another and decided on even one more, for good measure. "Smile", she said. And it was at that very moment when something in the distance caught both my attention and Sofi's. At first we heard it but, almost in the same instant, it came into view. Two headlights came around the curve and stopped in front of the house. I do not know how Sofi knew. She is usually very stand offish to strangers. Not in a concerning way. She likes to bark and intimidate without being close. At the first hint of a stranger moving too far into her territory, she runs and hides behind me. But, this time she bolted off the swing, scurried down the driveway and wiggled and sniffed her way into the driver's side door as he stepped out. I heard his familiar "Hello." and my heart smiled. School is out. My boy is back home.
:) A moment to treasure!
