When we were at the zoo earlier this month, I spent quite a while just watching her. I'm calling her "her" because she acted like she had the story of a strong but sad woman. She was all alone, standing in one spot near the water... She shouldn't have been alone... and I don't think she wanted to be. But, she was and there was nothing she could do about it but stand there and wait. I wonder what she was waiting for... Her family? Her freedom? Does she even know another life? And was she dreaming of it?

The more I looked at this picture this morning, I realized how it looks as though she is trying to blend into the rocks behind her as if to say, "This life does not matter... I am not here."

And I hope that, wherever her dreams take her, may that life be everything she wants it to be...
Such a grand old lady, I love the fact that you can see so much detail in her ageing dry skin.
She does look tired and sad, what an emotive shot,

Stunning textures, a beautiful image. Perhaps she(?) Was just enjoying the soak in the sun and feeling sleepy with it's warmth on her back- I hope so.

She's wonderful! I just love the texture in this, in her skin, in the background. Great shot!
