Yesterday morning, I went outside to get a shot of the beautiful sunrise. As I faced the east, I heard the branches move in the tree behind me. I automatically thought, "No way. " (I'd had a really restless night and the one and only dream I had was that I looked outside and saw the bottom back half of a large bird, lifting up off of the ground, with a rabbit in its talons. It's legs were thick so I knew it was an owl. It flew up into the tree... but then reached out with sloth arms, grabbed a branch and perched itself before turning around and giving me a good look at it's porcupine face. ... not sure what that was all about...) Anyhow, I turned around to look and there was this beauty. He stayed in this tree for 4.5 hours, watching the other birds (and the neighbors small dog), sleeping, watching clouds... And whatever else owls do in trees. I was blessed with the beautiful sunrise lighting and really wanted to get a shot of him in flight. Luckily, I was able to sit on my sofa inside, pay bills, drink coffee, and owl watch. It was the perfect morning. Each time I saw him move, I'd jump up with my camera and run out into the cold air. Finally, I saw him take off. I'll share those amazing pics tomorrow.
