This is a Cairn. A rockpile or a man made stack of stones. This is in the Burren an area that comprises less than 1% of the island of Ireland . It is a favourite place of mine , a great place to go and clear the head, high and windy with spectacular views of the Atlantic out in Galway bay. There are a lot of these cairns, most are sloppy constructions, but this one is the work of an artist I presume. The construction is so precise . The Burren Trust try to discourage people building them, so I refrain, but make no apology for displaying this one
@mastermek This is a protected area and limestone is very dry and brittle , so when people build cairns which often topple over leaving lots of broke rock piles behind, I'm not sure who or when this one was constructed but I first saw it over ten years ago..
I can understand why this is a favorite place of yours. I like to think that the builder of this cairn is carrying on what they learned and applying it to modern artistry, I see aspects of my (well it is not mine but Chicago's) Aqua building in this carin.
This is soooo Beautiful and peaceful!! ... You can see far and wide from there ... no wonder you love it so much!! ... i even would love to do some Rock - Stacking!!
