We approach problems very differently sometimes. As an engineer, he just takes things apart because he believes he can simply put them back together. Me, not so much.
As a pseudo-engineer I, too, think I can just take something apart to see how to fix it. ...Problem is the "psuedo" part, methinks, as too often I really should have left well enough alone! ;-P
