Blue Jay by jamibann

Blue Jay

If you knew how much time I have spent trying to get a decent photo of the elusive blue jay! Always around, but they never sit still enough for me to get a decent photo. This one looks a bit scrawny, but it's a bucket list blue jay nonetheless!
Oh what a skinny thing. Wonder if it's young? They are such pretty birds. Good clear shot!

Well done on finally getting a great shot. I don't think I've ever seen a blue jay before. Wonderful shot. I love how you've composed it.

Wonderful framing and pose!

great capture before he flew away. Love the rail framing

He does look a touch on the scrawny side doesn't here. Congrats on getting this super shot Issi. I'd like to get a shot of a Magpie but they seem to sense whenever I even approach the window!

Lovely capture

I feel your pain! At least you got a really nice image! We spend a bucket load on peanuts and sunflower seeds for them each summer in Nova Scotia and you'd think they might cooperate for a photo or two...but NOooo...

Great capture! He looks comically undernourished, like a nerdy geek! Cute! :)

This is a good shot. But it is a skinny one compared to the ones I've been seeing. I think i have a baby, but I've not been able to be ready to catch it.

Well done!! He is a bit on the scrawny side isn't he. Looks almost as if he's behind bars. Fantastic shot.

In any case, he's been trained well, he doesn't hang about for long! Thanks for all the lovely comments folks.

Great shot! I actually have tons of photos of blue jays - they're around my feeder a lot! I have them up in the tree eating seed between their talons and everything :) They are quick little buggers though!

@not_left_handed Ha ha, I think this one maybe just felt sorry for me, and so sat a while! :-)

You have a new follower - your pictures are gorgeous!!!! Very professional looking!

@not_left_handed Thank you Dawn - very kind! I'm following you too...

I do agree - they are awfully hard to get focused on before they're off again! Nice job on this one. Sure is a skinny little guy, but those beautiful blue colors are there. Nice detail.
May 23rd, 2014
You did get this one in great focus. I wonder if this is a young one, not filled out yet?

He is a bit scrawny. Long winter. Love the composition.

Love the way you've captured the little guy perched on the wood and framed in the opening. My bucket list bird is a meadowlark, the Kansas state bird.

@milaniet @tristansmum @sansjuan @denisefuller @lynnz @carolyns @genealogygenie Thanks everyone for the lovely comments on my skinny blue jay. I think he must be a young one. Hope you get your meadowlark Kim!

May 24th, 2014
Well, this is a decent one for sure! Congrats on finally capturing the elusive Jay. I've yet to capture a pic I like. I'd be happy with this one.

@lyndemc God, Denise, there was I sitting in the garden this afternoon, reading, when along came not one, but two blue jays, and they hung around for a bit too. Did I have my camera by my side. No I did not. I just had to make do with enjoying watching them!
May 24th, 2014
@nanalisarocks Thanks Lisa.
May 24th, 2014
Well, shoot! Hopefully those two will come back when the camera's in your company.
