La Porte de l'Eglise by jamibann

La Porte de l'Eglise

This is the main entrance door of the old Parish Church of Croissy-sur-Seine - built at the beginning of the 13th Century, and restored in the 17th Century, thanks to Queen Anne of Austria. It was listed as a Historic Monument in 1942 and since the 1980s the church has been used for art exhibitions and occasional concerts.

The stonework of the arch has definitely seen a lot of time go by. Love the details of the doors and its hardware.

Think of all the people who have gone in and out of there over the centuries. Beautiful wooden doors and lovely detail in the arch.

You have captured many things that show its age - the steps are uneven, the doors don't hang evenly, the walls are chipped. It's so lovely and worn.

Those lovely wooden doors against the stonework are terrific. How nice that they maintained it. That's sure a piece of history.
