Marathon de Paris

I spent a large chunk of yesterday standing at this spot waiting to cheer on some friends doing the Paris Marathon. I stood for 3 and a half hours and never saw them yet! However, I did see an old friend - although I never knew he was running the marathon - and was able to encourage him along. The 30 km mark is known as the wall, or the 'Mur du 30'. It was a beautiful day as you can see. A marathon tempts me greatly, but I've never plucked up the courage yet. I've done a couple of half marathons, so who knows, maybe one day?!
Go for it, Issi! You can do it! The thought of running 30 km sounds a bit daunting to me but you're a cyclist so you're already well prepared. A day like this one is perfect for a racing event.

Definitely go for it (says the woman who hates running with a passion!) Nice sign to remind the runners they've hit the wall just in case they hadn't noticed ;) Your trees look quite advanced there with all those leaves! I like the reflections in his sunglasses.

Nice comp, and I love the fresh green leaves. I know I could never do anything like a marathon, but I admire those who do it.

You're a good friend. Perhaps one of them will encourage you to train with them.

This made a neat shot with great colors - have a tremendous admiration for marathon runners - have several in our little town.

I love how Mur Du is so similar to murder, which is what running 30kms would feel like to me!! Great shot.

@joeymc Ha ha - yes I reckon I could get the the 30 km stage, it's the 12 km after that which would be the problem!
