Robin Redbreast by jamibann

Robin Redbreast

I drove up to Braemar to visit my dad this morning, and when parking the car I saw this little fella' sitting on the church fence. He was begging to have his photograph taken, so I obliged.
Love the bright colors!

What a lovely frame for him too! Fav! I saw one today too but he didn't stay around long enough for me to get a picture.

Braemar is the name of the street I lived on as a kid! This robin portrait is lovely with the sharp details and strong color tones.

@taffy Lovely! The village of Braemar is where my dad lives and where I was brought up. It is in the Highlands of Scotland. The village is situated in the upper end of the Earldom of Mar or literally the Braes o' Mar. In Scottish Gaelic, Bràigh Mhàrr (upland of Mar) referred to the general locality rather than the village itself, and the use of Braemar to specifically refer to the village dates to around 1870. Thought you might find that interesting, given your childhood home. :-)

@jamibann Thanks so much! It's always so interesting to find the back story to names.

Taffy lived on Braemar street and our family lived in Braemar Court :) interesting history of the word. Hope your dad is well. Love this little robin in your photo

Love the feather detail on this sweet little robin - such nice colors too with that church fencing.

@pixiemac Braemar is such a lovely name too - always holds a place in my heart, although I'll never live there again - just too small for us. Ballater is small enough in my opinion! Anyway, happy to say dad is doing well. As I'm about to trail him to Paris, Cambridge and Canterbury, it's just as well! The 'Offspring' tour, I'm calling it!

Darling little creature, waiting there for you on the church fence. Your European robins are so dainty compared to our robust American version.
