We had no idea as we travelled down to Bourg en Bresse on Friday 13th that Paris would be hit by an enormous tragedy that evening. We were walking to our hotel when we heard the news. We are lucky. None of our friends or family were involved in the terrorist incidents, but these random murders of innocent people in central Paris leaves a mark on the soul.
As we left Bourg en Bresse on Sunday morning I noticed this French flag on the fencing of the Hotel de Ville. Note also the half mast flag.
I'm glad you and your family are safe. But I understand that there are these marks on hearts and souls after such a tragedy, that will be never forgotten. Thinking of you!
So glad you are safe. I travelled by train to Bourg en Bresse when I visited my brother in September and he met me from the station which is about an hour's drive from where he lives. It is good that the French people are not going to let these evil people hold them back. Nice shot to remember them by
Your living there personalized the tragedy from the beginning...the idea that simply enjoying oneself could put so many in harms way is hard to wrap my head around, and the sheer randomness of it all. Quite relieved you are fine but feeling so sad for all of you.
Taffy said it perfectly.
Issi, I began a thread to ask people to tag their photos Pray-for-Paris so all will know we're thinking of the French and that we're all diminished that a faction of the human race could perpetrate such an evil deed.
Issi, I can't imagine how it feels to be in your situation, but I am so glad to hear you and your family are all safe. I continue to pray for peace in our world.
