Yesterday a friend and I followed a trail of mostly covered 'passages' in Paris - walking about 17km in all. This is the Passage du Bourg l'Abbé, built in 1828 by Auguste Lusson.
At the end of the 18th century, town planners created a labyrinth of 'hidden' passages across Paris. Many have now fallen into disrepair or have been demolished, but if you know where to look you can still walk into a belle époque arcade, an art nouveau galerie or an ancient courtyard.
@boxplayer Thanks for your nice comments. My friend and I followed a circuit from the website 'parisinconnu'. It offers various walks in Paris, some of them based on themes. This was the theme 'passages couverts'. Not all of it worthwhile photographically speaking, but all very interesting.
@woodlandsphotog Yes, it is a fabulous city - so many photo opportunities. We live about 20 km outside central Paris, but it is very easy for me to take the train into the centre. :-)
