Filming! by jamibann

Filming!

We had a lovely evening in Paris yesterday celebrating our anniversary; the weather was lovely! Before going for our meal, we walked from the Hotel de Ville, past the Pont Neuf and Notre Dame and through the Jardin du Luxembourg, finishing up close to the Eiffel Tower, where we had our meal on the rue St Dominique. At the Pont Neuf, we were surprised to see scenes from the second world war! There was some filming going on, so I'm sharing one of the photos I took from across the water.

As for the restaurant, Le Violon d'Ingres ... well it was rather splendid. Very understated but with fabulous food and attentive service. We took the Menu Dégustation, which allowed us to sample lots of dishes. I won't detail every item we tasted, but my favourite dishes were the 'velouté léger de laitue, tartare d'huitres relevé au gingembre' and the 'gratin de macaronis farcis aux artichauts et fine Mornay légèrement truffé'. Et voilà! :-)
Beautiful shot.. I thought is looked like a scene from WW2.. then I read your narrative.. looks a very emotive scene...

Striking place to be filming with the shadows, stonework and pop of red from the woman's coat. Sounds like you had a wonderful evening out.

I really like those two trees and their shadows. They make a great frame for the couple.

@gaylewood It was a memorable evening, I have to say. A little too much champagne consumed however, which made getting on my bike to cycle 90 km this morning a tad more difficult than usual!;-)

What a lovely thought: and evening stroll through Paris! Thanks for taking us along, Issi!

Such a great photo and to think you had nothing to do with setting it up. Just at the right place at the right time. The lighting is beautiful.
Your evening sounds very romantic and perfect for the occasion. Of course I had to look up your favorites, but I don't thing the translator on Google did them justice - cream of lettuce? ginger statement? Haha! Glad you enjoyed everything. And proud of you for getting up to cycle this morning.

What an interesting scene to come across. And I agree with some of the other comments about the nice light. And it sounds like a wonderful evening for your 25th. Congrats again!!

This is beautiful -- quite a romantic looking spot and like something out of a movie scene taking place in Paris.

@randystreat How lovely that you took the time to check out the details of the menu. It was indeed a cream of lettuce with oyster tartare and a hint of ginger. It was so tasty!

@jamibann Now I'm going to have to figure out what cream of lettuce is. I've never heard of it.
