Pamir Mountains, Tajikistan, 4700 m

Today I'm cheating. I was looking for inspiration for a post for today, when I got a Whatsapp and several photos from my son on his current adventure. So, guess what, that's what I'm posting. Here they are in Tajikistan, at 4700 m (son on left of photo). You can see the infamous Pamir Highway winding through the mountains below. They are now in Osh, in Kyrgyzstan - with wifi! Happy days!
Wow, quite the trip! Nice shot

I am so impressed with your son and his friends, and even more with your stoic support as they travel through these far flung places that look so isolated! What a great experience they are having -- you have to be so proud of them!

@milaniet Just as long as it doesn't give him a taste for more, Milanie! They're heading for the Kazakhstan border today.

@taffy My support has not always been stoic,Taffy, I have to confess. I was really against the idea, as I was quite simply terrified at the thought of these three young people driving all that way - the driving and the roads being my biggest concern. However, as time goes on (5 weeks has now passed), I am relaxing a little and am almost able to enjoy following them on their journey. I have a great link with the other two mums too, through Whatsapp, which allows us to share any snippets the boys send, as communications are not always easy. I will be very glad to see them come home, although I do understand and recognise what an amazing adventure it is for them, and what a lot of learning they've had to do along the way. A fantastic life experience.
