La Grande Roue by jamibann

La Grande Roue

I liked the way these beautiful flowers stood up so tall in front of the big wheel in Paris (ok, so I had to get down low for that to happen ...). Taken in the Jardin des Tuileries. Can anyone tell me what the flowers are?
What amazing and fascinating flowers! "Circus People" come to mind as I envision girls riding bareback on white horses... (Sort of Cirque de Soile costuming!) Is the ferris wheel at the end of the boulevard facing the Arch de Triomphe? That's where I saw it in winter when we were there, but Jardin des Tuileries was elsewhere as I recall... There I am rambling on and I should say your DOF setting is gorgeous!

Great shot. I think you'll find they are fritillarias crown imperial. I have some yellow ones from an English country garden to post. Yours are a beautiful colour.

It is not the getting down to take a photograph, it is how you get back up. Great frame.

@quietpurplehaze Thanks Hazel. I hear they're also known as Crown Imperials. They're very regal, that's for sure.

@quietpurplehaze Didn't read your response properly, so sorry for confusing message. I just saw the fritillarias part of the name!

@Weezilou It is exactly that! It sits at the Place de la Concorde and you can see it from the Arc de Triomphe and also from Les Tuileries. I totally get your Cirque du Soleil comment!!!
