I was just wondering what on earth I was going to post this morning, when I heard the noise outside! It's the annual 'élagage' or trimming of the trees in the street. Notices go out in advance so that no cars are parked in the street, and then very sophisticated machinery goes on a rampage, for a few hours, trimming back the plane trees. When I heard the noise, I dashed upstairs with my camera and got a shot of one of the guys whizzing by on the pavement, trimming the high trees as he went. He's accompanied by various others, who blow and tidy as he goes. It's quite a job.
Always happy to learn a new bit of French vocab! It sounds very organized and I hope it is kinder to the greenery than the stripping way it's done in our locality.
Cool shot! As Judith commented, I'll bet it was fun to watch. I'd love to have this work crew over at my place for a couple of hours...I have lots of trees that need trimming up high. :-)
