Le Palais Garnier

We were lucky enough to be invited to an Opera at the Palais Garnier last night. Whilst I confess to not being the biggest fan of Opera, this was an evening with a difference. Sitting in that amazing, historic auditorium, listening to Mozart's 'La Clemenza de Tito' was quite simply an awesome experience, but then afterwards we dined in the 'Grand Foyer' ... another unforgettable experience. I feel very fortunate and, yes, thankful.

This image is of the painted ceiling (Marc Chagall) which was completed in 1964 and replaced the original painting by Jules Eugène Lenepveu. As usual, there are some who love it and some who find that it doesn't fit with Garnier's carefully orchestrated interior. As I couldn't get the whole ceiling into the image, I opted to focus on a small portion.
What an amazing ceiling
