My Lai Massacre by jamibann

My Lai Massacre

This was a very sobering start to the day as we visited the place where, in 1968, one of the most barbaric incidents of the Vietnam war took place, and where between 347 and 504 unarmed men, women and children were killed by US troops. A monument now exists in memory of those who died. It makes you wonder how on earth this could have happened. War does terrible things to people. I hope we've learned and moved on, but I'm not certain. :-(
That was an awful event....and in our lifetimes and memory too......governments never learn from past mistakes do they.....

A striking photo.....good that monuments are there for reminding us of the tragedies of the past.
Watching First World War footage in a new 'film' - They shall not grow old' and I wondered at times if I could watch it to the end. Hard to grasp at this point in time.
