I love how these bluebells pop up all around the garden. Hubby was all for pulling them all up, as he thinks they make the place look untidy. I think they add a touch of shabby chic.
I couldn’t agree more! We used to have some Manx bluebells that my brother brought for us. We sowed them in what we call 'the park', aka an area which we don't cultivate, for animals and birds to use as they wish. We’ve cleared it recently, first time for some time...bluebells are not to be seen. Whilst I’ve seen cultivated bluebells in gardens, I’ve rarely seen them as wild flowers. Sad affair.
I agree, we have white ones too but must say I do agree with hubby when they stop flowering. Our garden is looking rather untidy while the leaves die back & straggle on the ground.
Nice capture, and I like the look of them, but your husband might have a point - these are the Spanish bluebells, cultivated bluebells that are driving out the natural English bluebells. Spanish bluebells stand up straight and have bells on both sides of the stem.
