Going back to Friday's walk, this is the grave with an uninscribed stone, high on the hillside, of Sgt. Arthur Davies.
He was a redcoat billeted at the Dubrach following the 1746 Battle of Culloden. Two local men from Inverey were accused of his murder (he was allegedly carrying his men's wages as he crossed the hillside and so robbery was probably the motivation for his murder). The men however were acquitted after an unlikely defence involving Sgt. Davies' ghost speaking to them in Gaelic - which Sgt. Davies could not speak!
Sgt. Davies body lies where it was found, marked only by this uninscribed stone.
I wonder if this marker had to be hauled in from elsewhere as it doesn't appear there are any large stones lying about, unless they're hiding beneath the surface, which would make digging a grave quite a challenge.

Poor Sergeant Davies, a cruel & sad ending! It’s a pity no one bothered to take him down home but on the other hand a beautiful place to rest! That ghost did him no favours!
